Our Mission

Kelowna RibFest Causes

Kelowna RibFest is 100% volunteer driven, and proud to put 100% of the proceeds back into the community. Through the Rotary Club of Kelowna Sunrise, we also support select international programs that help make our world a better place. Our goal is to raise as much money as possible for local causes with a family friendly summer event.

In addition to other local causes, we gave $40,000 to JoeAnna’s House at Kelowna General Hospital including a $10,000 cheque at our 2019 Ribfest event.

Sustainability

RibFest is working hard to improve the environmental sustainability of our event. For example, we require all vendors to provide their product in compostable containers; all beverage containers are recyclable; and all aluminum cans have been donated to Pathways Abilities or other deserving groups. Any electrical generators required are the most efficient in fuel usage and least impactful in emissions.

At RibFest we are committed to working with businesses and suppliers who are advancing the most widely accepted global standard for responsible animal care. RibFest requires all food suppliers to meet national industry standards. The vendors work with Sysco Foods and Maple Leaf Foods. Both companies have a commitment to corporate responsibility and sustainable practices which are clearly identified on their corporate websites. These suppliers incorporate innovative transportation, Dr. Temple Grandin created animal handling practices, open sow housing and robust animal welfare auditing.

Service
Above Self
